1 |
General
Safety is paramount. While the club will make its best endeavours to improve rider safety and course safety, it is each rider’s own responsibility to adhere to the protocols listed below and to take responsibility for their own safety.
Event protocols are for guidance of participants, each team should ‘self regulate’.
There are no ‘referees’ or ‘commissars’ as the events are not races. |
2 |
Lead Vehicles
Lead vehicles are provided for both A and B / C distance teams. Please obey any instructions from officials within these vehicles. |
3 |
Corner Marshals and Motorbike Safety Marshals
Marshals are provided for your safety and the safety of others. Please obey any instruction or direction by these officials. This may include a direction to stop. |
4 |
Road Rules
Ride according to road rules. |
5 |
Helmets
The wearing of approved helmets is mandatory. |
6 |
iPods and Walkmans
The use of personal music devices such as iPods and Walkmans by riders during an event is not permitted. |
7 |
Passing Teams / Interference
Do not interfere with other participant teams. If another team catches your team you must allow them to pass before regrouping and separating as teams. |
8 |
Mixing with other Cycling Club events
Sometimes CS events are run in conjunction with other Cycling Club race events. We plan to stay separate but at times race riders may catch CS teams. If this occurs do not interfere with racing riders. If a rider has a number on, they are racing and have right of way. |
9 |
Abandoning Riders
The principle of a Randonneur is to participate and to complete a set event. It follows therefore that a team should not ‘abandon’ a rider. The team should stay together even if one rider punctures. Unresolvable mechanical failures are the exception and participants will be picked up by the ‘broom wagon’. |
10 |
Time trial bars
Time trial bars are discouraged. |
11 |
Disc wheels
Disc wheels are discouraged. |
12 |
Bike Type
Team bikes shall be consistent in type, that is, all road or all MTB. Tandems are accepted in either format. |
13 |
Team Briefing
Team Briefing occurs 30 minutes before the first team starts. These briefings highlight course safety concerns. Attendance by the Team Manager or a single representative as a minimum is compulsory. |
14 |
Event Timing
As the event is timed, the time will be taken on the last group member to finish. That is, the last finishing rider to cross the line. |
